Popular DJ Shot and Killed at Party in Westmoreland


A prominent disc jockey was fatally shot at a party at Broughton in Little London, Westmoreland on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Davroy Barnes, otherwise known as "DJ Myrie," a resident of Mango Hall in the parish.

 

According to police reports, Barnes was sitting in his car at the party when a vehicle pulled up alongside him and a lone male suspect emerged.  The individual proceeded to rob patrons before opening fire, striking Barnes multiple times.

 

Following the shooting, Barnes was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds and rushed to the hospital by responding authorities where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

 

The motive for the shooting is unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

Daneilla McLaughlin Novermber 7, 2023 Curfew underway in Duanvale following quadruple murder Following last month's quadruple murder in the Duanvale community, Trelawny police and soldiers imposed a 8:00 p.m. curfew in the community a week ago. Most citizens obeyed the curfew order of the police and military personnel but expressed their annoyance with it. A few citizens were unwilling to adhere to the order. Cook shops and corner shops were closed as early as 7:30 p.m. last week, and citizens rushed home in order to prevent the police from warning them.
