Gabrielle Morrison   October 19, 2023 Fraternal Fury: Clarendon Farmer Confesses to Brother's Murder   A Clarendon farmer has confessed to killing his brother following a heated argument. The incident occurred in the community of Johnny's Hill on Monday evening.   The deceased, George Jones, 43, was found outside his home with multiple chop wounds to his upper body. His brother, Joseph Jones, has since been taken into custody and has reportedly admitted to the crime.   According to police reports, the brothers were involved in a dispute when the altercation turned violent. Joseph Jones allegedly inflicted fatal wounds on his sibling with a machete.   Residents of Johnny Hill are being praised for their quick action in apprehending the suspect. Daneilla McLaughlin October 18, 2023   Residents terrified, police patrolling heighten in Duanvale, Trelawny Police patrolling has increased in the Duanvale community following the killing of four adults by gunmen last Monday night. This has been the first reported quadruple murder in the community. Trelawny police as well as members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) are committed to protecting the citizens of Duanvale and preventing a repeat of last week’s killing. Two couples were shot and killed after gunmen entered the home shared by one couple at approximately 9:50pm. Four young children were present in the house, none were reported hurt. An elderly woman expressed she has never seen anything like this in the community, stating that it is a great shock. “It really shake me,” she said. Last Friday, the Revised Bail Act was a pproved to protect witnesses.     After a four-hour-long debate, the 23-year-old bail act was made redundant. This has come into effect with the approval of the Bail Act of 2023 which contained 20 amendments. The Bail Act of 2023 will permit a grant of bail at three stages pre-charge, post-charge, and in certain cases post-conviction.     Furthermore, Johnson - Smith, the spear header of the joint select committee, stated that Jamaican Citizens want a system that truly protects them. Alexia King-Whyte October 11, 2023 Taxi operator killed, mother hospitalised Taxi operator Gregory Sutherland, otherwise called ‘Greg’ of Big Head Street in Greenvale Manchester was shot dead and his mother wounded on Tuesday night. Reports are that the 36-year-old and five of his relatives, including three children were on their way home in his taxi at about 7:30 p.m, when two gunmen emerged from bushes and opened fire at the vehicle. The mother of the deceased is currently hospitalised with bullet wounds but remains in stable condition . The other passengers escaped injury. The gunmen attacked the family a few metres away from their home in the Scott’s Town area in Greenvale. “Two men jump out the bush and shot out the tires first, so Greg couldn’t drive off. Then them open fire on him in the driver’s seat. Him come out the car and all when him drop a ground them still a shoot him,” said an eyewitness.   Gabrielle Morrison October 5, 2023 Gunmen Target School Principal in St Andrew An unidentified   school principal in St Andrew was the target of a gun attack on Thursday morning, but was unharmed. The principal of St Richard's Infant and Preschool on Red Hills Road was in her car on Sunrise Crescent when gunmen on a motorcycle pulled up alongside her and fired shots. According to the police report it is believed that the principal was the primary target.   Consequently, classes at the school which is located on the same property as St Richard's Primary School, have been suspended for the day.
 Daneilla McLaughlin October 3, 2023 Ganja-laced candies sold to school children. Over 60 students from the Ocho Rios Primary School were rushed to the St. Ann's Bay Hospital on Monday after students became ill from eating sweets laced with marijuana. According to a report from the school principal, Suzette Barnes Wilson, the sweets were purchased from an unknown male vendor at the gate. She stated that the vendor was told to leave but he instead went to the back gate and sold the candies there. After eating the candy, the students started vomiting and fainting. The children were taken to the school's nurse then rushed to hospital to receive treatment. Most of the students were treated, given medication, then were sent home. They were told to return if symptoms persist while, a few remained hospitalized. One child complained of weakness and heaviness in the head and another child said his tongue tasted bitter.
